In The Studio: Late April & Early May

Happy May to you! :] Thanks for dropping by, I'll hopefully soon be working out a better way to shop online for a more extensive portion of my collection, if not all of it, so stay tuned~

Two new companion charms have been added to the mix! River Song (Melody Malone) & Jackson Lake.

Starbaby Studio got some exclusive Clockmaster Timepieces last month, including pirating and card-playing inspirations.

Four other new charms made their way to Modern Mouse as well. Van Gogh, Rory Williams, Clara Oswald & The Shakri's Cubes from The Power of Three.

I've found myself working on a lot of Police Box Earrings and 10th Doctor Tribute Necklaces lately, looks like the Modern Mouse favorites are wings & Tennant!

I also launched a new necklace at the Mouse late last month, inspired by The Three Doctors serial from 1972/1973, quickly picked up by a lucky Whovian. :)

This year I have the opportunity to be part of the Altered Paintings Exhibition at Redux Studios in Alameda. I found a great piece from their selections, but with only a week before the due date, I had to figure out my plans sooner than later! I decided to roll with something I'm familiar with, building off of my Steampunk-inspired roots. This piece was a lot of fun to work with and I may do more in the future. Opening night is on the 11th if you're able to swing by~

The Wizards had to wait their turn though. Once my glaze tests came back from the stoneware firing, my focus turned to the buildings for my self portrait piece. I have to say, I had a fairly good idea of how they were going to come out post-firing, but they turned out so much better than I imagined. I'm thoroughly satisfied with the results!

By popular demand at Modern Mouse, this month I found myself creating rings. Pictured below you'll see the very first Kuro-Same rings in existence, one of which went to a fairly new friend, Bernadette of Artery Press! Her work is simply amazing, you should check it out sometime or visit her at Swarm (Loakal address, I'm not sure if its still called Swarm or not).

Hello to you! :) I hope you all are well, I've certainly been keeping quite busy between work, personal nonsense and studio work. Speaking of the latter, I will now begin posting behind-the-scenes photos to the blog of what I've been up to every month or so, just as a nice recap; however, to truly stay on top of everything Kuro-Same, you can follow me on Instagram @kurosamearts.
Thanks again for swinging by and checking things out! I'm also excited to announce that there is an official Shop page where a number of my sculptures can be purchased, if you're interested. Hopefully soon I will be able to launch a full webstore, but there are a lot of bugs and kinks that need to be worked out beforehand.

Anywho, this semester in the studio has mostly been about testing out glazes for the big piece I'm working on, titled Self Portrait: Rise. He got fired at the end of last year and I'm hoping to have him all glazed up by the end of the summer. I've actually made a lot of progress on glazing already, the buildings are going into the kiln this week and should be done next week.

Now waiting on glaze tests leaves my hands with more to do, so I've actually got two more batches of Wizards ready to be glazed! Series 3 and 4 will be out later this year, which I'm really excited about as well. The last photo above pictures a Wizarding first, they're all quite small! The rest of the images correspond to Series 3, which will include another King Wizard.
